Our Restoration Ministry was born from a simple but powerful desire: to come alongside people and help them walk in emotional and spiritual freedom.
We long to see individuals flourish in their relationships, grow in intimacy with the Lord, and confidently step into the call He has placed on their lives. Restoration Ministry creates a safe space where healing begins, hope is renewed, and hearts are anchored in Christ.
This ministry is led by Ashlynn Denning, a valued member of our Shofar East London staff and a qualified Holistic Christian Counsellor. Ashlynn has been in the counselling field for more than 12 years, working with adults, teens, and children from diverse family, cultural, economic, and spiritual backgrounds. She is trained in Christian Counselling, Gestalt Play Therapy, and Inner Healing, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, and is registered as a Holistic Counsellor with the Association of Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners.
Together with a trained and compassionate team of volunteers, she helps create an environment where people can encounter God’s restoring love in a practical and personal way.
There’s no charge for the sessions.
Everything you share will remain confidential and stay just between you and the Restoration Ministry team members. The only exception to this is if, by law, we’re required to report something or if there is any harm or danger to yourself or someone else.
On the evening of your appointment, you’ll meet with two of our Restoration Ministry team members in one of the rooms at church. When you arrive, the two team members you’ll be meeting with will be ready and waiting in the foyer to welcome you and guide you to the room where your session will take place.
Each appointment is 60–75 minutes long and usually takes place one evening at the church.
No, our team members are not mental health professionals. They are trusted leaders within our Shofar Church congregation who have been trained and equipped in areas of counselling and inner healing to walk alongside others in a supportive and prayerful way.
Restoration Ministry offers short-term care and support. We help fill the gap between talking to a friend and seeing a mental health professional.
No, you don’t need to be a member of Shofar to book a session. We are here to serve the wider East London community — both those within and outside of our congregation.
Whether you’re navigating a difficult season, feeling stuck or oppressed, or simply needing someone to pray and process with you, Restoration Ministry is here to walk the journey with you.
